2015’s Trendy Bathrooms

We took on kitchens, now let's tackle the bathroom. Our experts take on what's happening in the design world, and creating an on-trend oasis in your ensuite.

High-Tech

Bath-time can be an experience for the senses with any number of high-tech options to add to your bathroom.  Many brands have options for built-in audio systems, chromotherapy (using mood-enhancing colors), or refrigeration. Robern's latest medicine cabinet has a refrigerated portion that’s perfect for nail polish, organic skin products (with no preservatives), or medications that need to be kept cold.

Freestanding bathtubs

A freestanding bath really sets the mood for relaxation, even in today’s busy world.

When choosing a freestanding bath, consider how the design of the tub will shape the look of your space. The curve of a tub can bring softness to an angular bathroom, or an angular bath can offset soft colors or add to a highly structured room.

Interesting Metallic Fixtures

Bathroom fixtures are available in a variety of interesting finishes and colors. Look for chrome, brushed nickel, and oil-rubbed bronze, not to mention a variety of different warm-colored coppery, brassy and bronzy metals. Of course, plain old stainless steel is still a safe choice, although it’s not as interesting as it used to be when you look at all the possibilities that are currently available.

Shades of Grey

Grey has been a popular color choice for the bathroom last year, and it’s a trend that is sticking around. If you’re worried a gray palette will make your bathroom feel flat and lifeless, introduce streaks of white to cut through the moody hue and create a sophisticated look. Or energize the design by adding a splash of bold, eye-popping color, like adding an earthy orange-bronze mosaic tile feature wall.

Geometric tiles

Speaking of tiles… another major design trend for the bathroom is geometric tiles. This eye-catching look is a great design solution for those who wish to add depth and visual interest to a plain, neutral space, but without the use of bright, arresting tones.
