The bathroom is one of the busiest rooms in your home and it is important to be organized! The request we hear from most of our customers is “How do I get a vanity with more storage?” Ardele Warren from Splashes Bath & Kitchen Centres helps us figure out where to put all of our stuff in the bathroom in this month’s expert blog!

Vanities are a big decision. They need to be functional but can also be a main focal point in the bathroom. How do I even begin to make this decision?

At Splashes, we have many furniture and vanity suppliers from Ronbow, Robern, Duravit, American Standard and Duval. Each showroom has different items on display around the province, but we all have the catalogs for you to review.  As you know this will be a focal point, choosing the colour to best complement your room is important. We have vanities in many colour such as Glossy White, Cherry, Steel Grey, Vintage Honey and even Glass that has a full range of options!  Start with a colour theme in the bathroom, are you doing a cool bright white room? If so, maybe a shade of grey is what will suit the palette.

Some items are ready to ship, as we can't keep all the choices at our warehouse, and some are 4-8 weeks away. So be aware of this if you have a tight renovation timeline.

What is new and unique that I can look for?

Our Robern vanities are available in Digital Wood that feature a glass front with a pattern on the back of different grains of wood that shows through. This is a great way to add uniqueness to your room while keeping it durable for easy clean up. They have matching mirrors and cabinets to coordinate the look. Inside some of their units you can have electrical plugs for the hairdryer, or above for the toothbrush.  Some have towel bars on the side for easy access to help keep you tidy!

What are my options in vanities for the most doors and drawers to optimize my storage?

Ronbow is a great option for optimizing space as you need it with their modular units. Using good quality Canadian wood construction you can choose on vanity with cupboard space with both drawers and doors. You can also choose two 24” vanities with various size “bridges” to put the two together from a 60” unit with one continuous top and a 12” shelf.   There are pullouts that fit the "little" things so well, and this keeps everything in its place and a place for everything. You can plan out where the doors will open, if it is against a wall in a tight corner, maybe a pull out drawer is a better choice. As long as you know the sizes and style, we can show you a solution.

What about the top and sink options for these vanities?

Most of our vanities will have two or three choices for the sinktop.  It may be a granite top, with an undermount sink or a sink that covers the entire vanity in a smooth ceramic style.

If you are looking for a well-priced choice, we have units from Duval Bathworks. These are sweet and simple vanities that we sell exclusively. The vanities and tops typically fall under $400 so all you would need to add is the bathroom faucet.
